A Caffiene nap and a writing podcast

The queer neurodivergent author sat at their computer, clicking the keys , pausing and then deleting every word. Their brain fizzled as though a fire was kindling and fighting for air. Leaning back the chair squeeked and their arms flung over the side hanging limp.

“Come on brain!” they breathlessly exclaimed. “This is what we do… why are you being so difficult?” Poking their head with shrt stubby fingers, they grumbled uner their breath. “Grrr, ow…” They rubbed their temple. “I hate when the voices stop talking to me; I can’t be left on my own!” In one swift motion they stood up, grabbed their empty coffee cup and headed to the kitchen.

The grippy socks made a sticky squishing noise with every step. It was far better than the wet scrapping sound when they shuffled their feet. They put the empty mug down on the counter and in an instance had a giant can of monster between her fingers. They knew what would happen if they drank this; a caffiene nap that would last an undetermined amount of time. Inevitbly leaving their brain far worse off than they started with.

“HAH, I can handle it.” The can clinked and fizzed as they brought the can to their lips. “Podcast…” The monster was going down smooth. “Podcast! I will go sit down on the sofa and listen to a writing podcast to motivate me! Yes!” They grabbed their phone from their pocket searching through their long list of podcasts as they made their way to the sofa. Plopping down they threw their legs over the arm of the big chair.

“OO.. The Post-Launch Mindset! Let’s listen to that.” They clicked play and placed their phone down. Their eyes grew heavy as they finished their can of monster and laid the empty on the table. Within moments the podcast was being serendaded by snores and a throaty gurgle as their head hung over the arm of the chair. Perhaps there will be some motivation when they wake up… perhaps there will be a small snack..
